The Bardic:
(This format and everything about it is subject to change depending upon who is running this competition. As soon as we finalize our Chief Bard for this we will post it or announce it at the event.)
You may perform any piece or style you so choose. Each competitor may enter one or two pieces to be performed during court.
The Theory:
An entrant may win more than one category. One piece can be judged best in more than one category. One member of an ensemble can win a category on his/her own (such as best vocal) and someone's accompanist might win best instrumental.
Entrants don't need to know what they're doing until just before the contest.
Entrants can join up until the bardic is over.
Judges don't need to know if they can judge until just before the contest. They only need to commit to staying for the whole competition.
Please remember competitions such as this are always subjective no matter what safeguards are in place, and that we might never pick the piece that is The Best, but the one the judges liked best that day.
For this competition we shall have a prize for the each of the following categories:
____* best tale (either a spoken or sung tale)
____* best transporter (“made me feel I was there”)
____* most amusing
____* best overall performer (any criteria)
____* piece we'd most like to hear again and again

Judging:
It will be up to each judge to determine what criteria they want to use to determine their winner for each category. Each judging form will have space for notes. Since each entry is assigned a number, judges don’t have to remember the entrant’s name(s) or the name of their piece, just the entry number and then they can decide which category (if any) they want to consider it for.
